When US clocks spring forward and fall back from 2027 to 2031: 2:00 a.m. local time on the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November (15 U.S.C. § 260a).
Federal law (15 U.S.C. § 260a, as amended by the Energy Policy Act of 2005) sets daylight saving time from 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday of March to 2:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of November, in local time for each zone. A state lying entirely in one time zone may opt out and stay on standard time all year.
| Year | DST starts (spring forward) | DST ends (fall back) |
|---|---|---|
| 2027 | Sun 14 March 2027 | Sun 7 November 2027 |
| 2028 | Sun 12 March 2028 | Sun 5 November 2028 |
| 2029 | Sun 11 March 2029 | Sun 4 November 2029 |
| 2030 | Sun 10 March 2030 | Sun 3 November 2030 |
| 2031 | Sun 9 March 2031 | Sun 2 November 2031 |
Dates are calculated from the statutory rule. Unlike the EU, the US changes clocks zone by zone at 2:00 a.m. local time, so the switch rolls across the country.
