How to Use VClock: Clock, Countdown Timer and Alarm
VClock runs three tools in one browser tab. This guide explains each mode, how to make alarms reliable in a browser, and what to do if something does not ring.

The clock
When you open the home page you see the current local time in large digits. The time comes from your device's system clock, so if your computer's clock is wrong, the display will be too. Most devices sync automatically with internet time servers; check your operating system's date and time settings if VClock looks off.
Countdown timer
- Switch to the timer mode.
- Enter hours, minutes and seconds — for example 0 : 25 : 00 for a focus block.
- Press Start. The remaining time counts down on screen.
- When it reaches zero, the page signals the end. Pause or reset at any time.
Alarm
- Switch to the alarm mode and set a clock time, e.g. 15:45.
- Leave the tab open. The alarm fires when your device's clock reaches that time.
Making browser alarms reliable
- Interact with the page once. Browsers block sound until you click or tap on a page. Click a button on VClock before relying on the alarm sound.
- Keep the volume up and check the tab is not muted (right-click the tab on desktop browsers).
- Do not let the device sleep. A sleeping laptop or locked phone pauses web pages. Plug in and turn off auto-sleep for long timers.
- Keep the tab open. Closing the tab or the browser cancels timers and alarms.
- Background tabs may update the display less often, but the time is calculated from the system clock and stays correct.
When not to rely on a browser alarm
For waking up, taking medication or anything safety-critical, use your phone's built-in alarm or a dedicated device. Built-in alarms work while the screen is locked; web pages cannot guarantee that.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| No sound | No click on the page yet, muted tab, or system volume off. |
| Wrong time shown | Device clock or time zone setting is wrong. |
| Timer stopped | Device went to sleep or tab was closed/reloaded. |
